McRae Anderson, ASLA, CLP is President of greenwalls Modular Planting Systems and Principal Designer of McCaren Designs, which he founded in 1977. He attended the University of Minnesota and has a degree in agricultural economics and marketing. He is immediate past-president of the Green Plants for Green Buildings and a member of the American Society of Landscape Architects. He is an active member of the Professional Landcare Network, the National Interiorscape Network, GPGB, BOMA, IFMA, IIDA and the USGBC.
He has served on the Board of Directors for the Professional Landcare Network, chaired the Marketing and Interior Plantscape Committees and served on the International Certification Board of Governors. He was inducted into the PIA Hall of Fame and serves as advisor to the Dakota County Technical College Landscape Department.
Anderson’s work has won 26 awards for design and environmental improvement, including awards for Knotts Camp Snoopy, the Rainforest at Metroparks Zoo in Cleveland, the Tennessee Aquarium and Como Park Tropical Encounters Exhibit in St. Paul. He is a frequent lecturer at national conferences, including Green Build 2004, BOMA, IFMA, ASLA and numerous landscape international conferences.
He has authored numerous articles which have been published in Buildings magazine, Midwest Home and Garden and IFMA Council’s magazine. He is the author of “Beyond Plants” and the Green Build presentation paper, “Authentically Green Interiors.”
Along with significant industry press on the greenwalls Modular Planting System, McRae Anderson has been speaking a great deal about this innovative solution. Recently Anderson shared an overview of the system with the audience of ecobuild America in Washington D.C. and has recently accepted an invitation to speak at NeoCon® World’s Trade Fair 2010. His program, Living Walls for Green Buildings, has been scheduled to take place on Wednesday, June 16, 2010 from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m..
McRae most recently launched greenwalls Modular Planting Systems at the 2009 USGBC Greenbuild Confence and Expo and was given a “top five” new products notice from Environmental Building News.
His company’s vision statement, “to seek and share knowledge” is also his personal vision, which he has done well throughout his illustrious career.
